Shillong: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma shut down talk of shifting political alliances in Meghalaya on Tuesday. He brushed off rumors involving the BJP and the UDP, citing a lack of credible evidence. He refused to entertain theories born from social media clips or unverified news reports. The government moves on facts, not hearsay.
Sangma stood firm on the internal health of his party. He described the National People's Party as being “absolutely united” while pointing to the consistent stance taken by Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong. The NPP holds 33 seats, and the leadership claims no internal agendas threaten that base.
The Chief Minister slammed the practice of stitching together loose comments to form false political narratives. He warned that reacting to hypothetical scenarios only wastes valuable time. Instead, the party is pushing to expand its reach. Officials are currently gearing up for the Shillong Lok Sabha by-election and the upcoming Garo Hills Autonomous District Council elections.
