Kohima: The Dimapur Sumi Students’ Union (DSSU) has joined the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) in opposing plans to move the Government Hindi Institute from its current site in Oriental Colony. Union leaders Kiyeka V. Assumi and Atono V. Swu stated that the institute serves as a vital hub for higher education and contributes heavily to the community's social and economic health.
The union warned that relocating the facility would force students, especially those from low-income families, to endure unnecessary hardships and reduced access to quality learning. The DSSU argues that the current location provides a productive environment that should be preserved rather than abandoned.
Instead of pursuing a move, the union is urging authorities to invest in the existing campus by improving infrastructure and educational services. The DSSU has called for an immediate halt to all relocation plans and pledged to support any lawful efforts aimed at keeping the institute at its current location for the benefit of all students.
