Kohima: The Dimapur Sumi Council (DSC) and the Eastern Nagaland People’s Union Dimapur (ENPUD) met on Saturday at the DSC office to discuss regional progress and tribal integration. DSC president Shikuto Yeptho chaired the session, which focused on reinforcing longstanding bonds between the communities.
The meeting followed a joint appearance at the 74th Phom Day on June 6. Participants noted the formal affiliation of the Eastern Sumi Hoho with the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organization in 2023, as well as the 2025 integration of the Eastern Nagaland Sumi Union Dimapur into ENPUD. Leaders at the event described these events as “historic steps” toward deeper unity among the diverse tribal populations of Dimapur.
Representatives from the Dimapur District GB Federation, the Dimapur Sumi Totimi Loka, and the Naga Council Dimapur joined the discussion. Speakers emphasized the need to preserve ancestral connections between the Sumi and eastern tribes while maintaining Naga solidarity through collective leadership.
Shikuto Yeptho thanked the ENPUD delegation for their attendance. He announced that the forthcoming Sumi Ahuna Festival will function as a key event to promote cultural celebration, peace, and ongoing tribal harmony.
