Kohima: The Dimapur Sümi Council (DSC) and the Eastern Nagaland People's Union Dimapur (ENPUD) held a high-level meeting on June 13 to solidify inter-tribal harmony and discuss a shared agenda for regional development. Held at the DSC office in Dimapur, the assembly focused on reinforcing the historic relationship between the Súmi people and eastern tribal communities.
Leadership from both organizations reviewed key institutional milestones that have strengthened their bond. These include the 2023 affiliation of the Eastern Súmi Hoho with the Eastern Nagaland People's Organisation and the 2025 integration of the Eastern Nagaland Súmi Union Dimapur into the ENPUD. Participants at the meeting described these events as "historic steps" that are vital for fostering unity among the diverse tribal populations of the commercial hub.
During the session, delegates emphasized the importance of brotherhood and collective leadership to maintain Naga solidarity. Representatives from various groups, including the Dimapur District GB Federation, the Dimapur Súmi Totimi Loka, and the Naga Council Dimapur, offered their support for continued cooperation. This coordination follows recent collaborative efforts, including joint participation in the Phom Day observances held earlier in June.
DSC President Shikuto Yeptho thanked the ENPUD delegation for their attendance. He noted that the upcoming Súmi Ahuna Festival will serve as an essential platform to further promote peace and tribal integration in the region.
