Kohima: Health officials in Dimapur gathered at the Chief Medical Officer's Conference Hall on June 5 to coordinate an intensified response against malaria. The meeting, held under the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme, focused on strengthening surveillance and refining field-level operations during the ongoing Anti-Malaria Month.
Dr. Ayangla Saku led the session, which prioritized expanding community awareness and ensuring the reliable supply of medical commodities. Participants discussed the need for better communication between field staff and supervisors, alongside maintaining high standards for laboratory testing. State-level experts, including Joint Director Dr. Imnapokim, provided technical guidance to support these local elimination goals.
A practical training session focused on the correct application of insecticides for focal spraying. Kikolul Khieya instructed the team on specific mixing techniques to ensure potency, noting, "insecticides should first be made into a paste before being mixed with water to ensure that the active ingredient dissolves completely and remains effective during spraying operations."
Heanglih T Konyak reviewed the performance of surveillance staff by comparing current malaria case data with last year's figures. The meeting concluded with staff members committing to follow these updated recommendations to improve grassroots efforts and meet program targets throughout the district.
