Dimapur Colony Leaders Block Unauthorized Business Group

Kohima: The Joint Colony Forum of Ward 20 in Dimapur is fighting a rogue business group. The forum, representing United, Imkonglenden, Ura Villa, Circuit House, S.M., and Vilhume colonies, petitioned the Deputy Commissioner to block the Business Owners Forum, Nagarjan. People formed this group without consent. They circulated notices without checking with the United Colony Council or the six councils covering the ward.

The United Colony Council confronted the group on August 26. They made it clear that no new business association stands without collective approval. Shop owners, landlords, and proprietors rejected the proposal again on August 30. Despite this, the group persisted. They issued a press release on September 10, labeling the council’s actions as “wrong.”

Tensions are rising. The six colony councils met on September 11 to ban any unrecognized organizations. On September 13, Ward 20 Councilor Lanuchuba Imchen chaired an emergency meeting to solidify this stance. The Forum warns that these rogue groups spark distrust and create parallel authorities that disrupt local administration. Established channels involving the police, district administration, and colony councils already handle welfare, safety, and sanitation. The Forum now demands the Deputy Commissioner shut down the unauthorized outfit to restore order.
