Guwahati: The Diju and Misa rivers surged after heavy rains hammered the Karbi Hills. The deluge flooded low-lying regions along the Nagaon and Karbi Anglong border. This marks the second major flood to hit the area in just two weeks.

Waters swallowed residential zones and farmland throughout the Amoni and Kaliabor Revenue Circles. Hardest hit areas include Shiyalekhaiti, Kalapani, Borghat, Diju Valley No. 23 Block, Diju Basti, and Khalihamari. Residents across the Amlakhi Gaon Panchayat face recurring displacement as their homes and crops vanish under the rising current.

The State Disaster Response Force launched rescue operations to move trapped families to safety. Displaced citizens now reside in a relief camp at Shalna Bapuji LP School. Authorities continue to monitor the water levels closely. One local observer noted, "Residents have expressed concern that the situation could deteriorate further if rainfall continues over the coming days."

Farmers fear massive crop losses. Families struggle with restricted movement and lost property. The weather remains unsettled. Relief workers stay on high alert as they provide assistance to the affected communities.
