Guwahati: The Diju River burst its banks in Assam, flooding Shiyalekhaiti within the Kaliabor Revenue Circle. Nearly 5,000 people are now stranded. Many families fled their homes as rising water engulfed their properties, while others remain trapped in submerged zones.
Daily life has ground to a halt. Access to drinking water and food is nearly impossible. Displaced residents face a growing humanitarian crisis as basic supplies run dry.
Victims are demanding state intervention. They need shelter and aid immediately. One survivor told reporters, "The floodwaters have severely affected daily life, making access to food, drinking water and other basic necessities increasingly difficult."
Families are pushing the government to speed up rescue and rehabilitation efforts. The water continues to rise across the region.
