Kohima: Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Y. Patton has called on voters and party members to uphold the integrity of the electoral process during a BJP campaign event in Wokha. Addressing the crowd on June 13 regarding the upcoming Wokha Town Council by-election, Patton encouraged the electorate to vote based on conscience rather than financial incentives.

Patton issued a stern warning to both the police and district administration to maintain peace throughout the process. He confirmed that any observed malpractice would be reported to the Election Commission to facilitate potential corrective measures like re-polling. The event was attended by various party officials, including state BJP president Benjamin Yepthomi and advisor Daochier I. Imchen.

Yepthomi praised the current leadership and urged party workers to maintain unity to ensure continued development. Imchen highlighted the importance of urban local body elections, noting that grassroots governance is essential for long-term progress. He expressed strong support for the party candidate, Mhomo Humtsoe.

Humtsoe expressed his confidence in the upcoming vote while requesting that authorities provide adequate security to prevent disruptions. V. Khekato Awomi, president of BJYM Nagaland, also addressed the assembly, stating, "No proxy voting should take place." He encouraged voters to resist intimidation and participate in the democratic process without external influence.
