Shillong: The 120 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force held a tribute ceremony in Thorikapara, North Garo Hills, on Sunday to honor Constable Utpal Rabha. The event marked the anniversary of his death in 2018, when he was killed during an anti-Naxal operation in Jharkhand.
Assistant Commandant LL Kom opened the ceremony by laying a wreath on behalf of the CRPF Director General. The event drew local residents, family members of the fallen officer, and several officials, including North Garo Hills Superintendent of Police Ishan Gupta and village head Nameshwar Rabha.
During his address, Gupta credited the efforts of Rabha and other soldiers for the progress made in clearing Naxal-affected regions like Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh. He noted, “Their courage ensured that the nation’s resolve prevailed.”
The service also featured attendance from Deputy Superintendent of Police John Sangma and Inspector AK Srivastava. The commemorative program concluded with a two-minute silence held in honor of the memory of Shaheed Utpal Rabha.
