Agartala: The CPI(M) is conducting a thorough self-critical review to identify organisational weaknesses and improve its standing for future elections. General Secretary M.A. Baby announced the initiative during a two-day State Committee meeting in Tripura. The party aims to address the factors behind recent electoral losses while positioning itself as a viable political alternative by highlighting the developmental track record of previous Left governments in Kerala, West Bengal, and Tripura.
Addressing the press, Baby acknowledged the party's recent struggles to maintain power. He stated, "We admit there are shortcomings and mistakes on our part. We will self-critically examine our shortcomings and mistakes and are in the process of correcting them." The leadership is currently focusing on strengthening organisational structures to recover its electoral influence.
Beyond internal reform, the party is intensifying its criticism of the BJP-led Central government. Baby highlighted rising national concerns such as communal tensions and unemployment. He also targeted the management of high-stakes national examinations like NEET and CBSE, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Claiming that the current system fails the next generation, Baby asserted, "The future of lakhs of youths is in crisis," and called upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi to remove the Education Minister from his Cabinet.
