Kohima: Nagaland Congress MP S Supongmeren Jamir has issued a strong condemnation following the recovery of six bodies in Manipur. The victims, believed to be Naga men who had been held hostage by armed groups in the Kangpokpi district, were discovered by Manipur Police on June 13.
Addressing the gravity of the incident, Jamir described the killings as a clear violation of human rights. He urged both the Manipur state administration and the central government to conduct a swift investigation to identify and arrest those responsible for the violence. "This is a very serious case because it is against humanity and human rights. Those who are involved must be apprehended," he stated.
Jamir voiced significant concern that the ongoing instability in Manipur could destabilize the broader Northeast region if left unchecked. He advised the Nagaland government to remain vigilant and implement precautionary measures to ensure that local tensions do not spill across state borders. Highlighting the interconnected nature of the region, he warned that neglecting the situation in one state will ultimately affect others.
