COCOMI Calls for Black Flag Protest Over Har Ghar Tiranga in Manipur

Imphal: The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity wants residents to reject the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign. Instead, they asked people to hoist black flags to protest the state of affairs. Conflict has ripped the region apart since May 3, 2023.

Thousands now live in relief camps as internally displaced persons. Many remain unable to return home or travel safely along National Highways. COCOMI claims the Meitei community cannot farm their land in the hills due to the violence. Civilians have been forced to take up arms for their own protection for over three years. Normal life has not returned.

The group accuses both State and Central governments of failing to provide a path to peace. They argue these leaders have only made the situation worse. COCOMI described the current struggle as a "proxy war" and questioned why no solution exists. The committee maintains that fundamental rights of citizens have been compromised while people live in constant fear. Despite numerous appeals for change, the group sees no real progress.
