LIPUL Joins Boycott of Manipur Sangai Festival

Imphal: The League of Indigenous Peoples Upliftment is backing the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity in its push to boycott the Sangai Festival. General Secretary AB. Elangbam stated the current state of Manipur makes hosting a major event impossible. The festival must go.

LIPUL argues the government should dump the festival plans. Officials must prioritize the safe and dignified resettlement of internally displaced persons living in relief camps. Families cannot return home because of the ongoing conflict. The group wants state funds diverted from the celebration to cover rehabilitation costs instead.

The organization slammed both State and Central governments for their lack of action against groups it labeled as Chin-Kuki narco-terrorist outfits. LIPUL demands that authorities stop ignoring local concerns, as "decisions taken by the Centre without considering the concerns and wishes of the people of Manipur would not be acceptable."

LIPUL urged citizens to support the boycott, mirroring the public stance seen last year. Officials must discharge their constitutional duties and hold those responsible for the violence accountable. The group will back any measures that truly aim to end the state crisis.
