Manipur Groups Join COCOMI Boycott of Sangai Festival

Imphal: The Manipur Peace and Integrity Council and the Kangleipak Indigenous Martial Arts and Cultural Society have backed a Sangai Festival boycott. The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity called for the protest. It highlights the state's ongoing turmoil.

The groups noted the government failed to fix the crisis for three years and five months. Over 60,000 people remain stuck in relief camps. Officials have failed to finalize a concrete resettlement arrangement for the displaced.

They pointed to destroyed homes and restricted movement along national highways as evidence of government inaction. Violence continues to cause deaths and injuries across the state. Houses are still being burned. The groups cited these conditions as the reason for their stance: "The government has failed to resolve the crisis."
