Imphal: Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) Convenor Y.K. Dhiren has accused the government of employing a calculated strategy to delay the rescue of abducted civilians. Speaking at a public meeting in Luwangsangbam, Dhiren argued that the prolonged absence of these individuals is part of a larger plan intended to foster ethnic division and destabilize communities within Manipur.
Dhiren criticized authorities for failing to prioritize the recovery of the missing persons, asserting that a sincere search operation could have secured their release in just one day. During the event, hosted by local women’s groups including the Luwangsangbam Apunba Meira Paibi and the Koirengei Kabui Women Society, he demanded an immediate military crackdown on the groups responsible for the kidnappings.
The COCOMI official further alleged that the Government of India is utilizing proxy forces to sustain the ongoing violence. He claimed that narco-terrorist groups are operating with impunity, engaging in arson and other violent acts while the central government fails to restore order. According to Dhiren, these actions are part of a broader agenda to ignite communal unrest, and he urged the public to form a collective response to these perceived threats.
Several community leaders attended the gathering to echo these concerns, including COCOMI Co-Convenor Yumkhaibam Surjitkumar and representatives from various local social organizations. The meeting highlighted growing public frustration over the state of security and the perceived lack of accountability regarding the missing civilians.
