Chandel Forest Officials Lead Tree Planting Drive in Sora

Imphal: Divisional Forest Officer Dr. N. Munal Meitei pushed his environmental awareness campaign into Sora Khull today. His team planted 100 saplings alongside the Sora Development Organization. The event drew students from Royal Brighter Higher Secondary School and local residents celebrating Mawlid Al-Nabi. Organization president Aribam Md. Zakir and secretary Pukhrimayum Md. Tomba attended the planting.

Dr. Meitei touted the state-wide reach of the forest department. They have already dropped 1.5 lakh saplings across all 16 districts of Manipur under the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 3.0 campaign. These trees, planted for mothers or Mother Earth, remain under departmental watch. Public help is needed. The DFO wants students to get their hands dirty. He reminded the crowd that trees keep humans alive. "Trees are essential for human survival," he said.

Forests are shrinking fast. Conflict and illegal clearing threaten Manipur’s future. Dr. Meitei wants civil society groups, youths, students, and Meira Paibis to stand against this destruction. He envisions a green, peaceful state. Every citizen must plant and protect trees to secure that future.
