Imphal: Manipur DGP Mukesh Singh wrapped up a two-day inspection of Jiribam district on October 10, 2026. He traveled via National Highway 37 to tighten security and assess local police outposts. The district sits as the Eastern Gateway of Manipur. Singh met with the Superintendent of Police, the 7th Indian Reserve Battalion Commanding Officer, and senior brass from the Assam Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force, and Railway Protection Force.

The DGP ordered immediate action against drug trafficking in the region. He demanded better coordination between all security agencies to shut down illicit trade. Singh inspected the SP Office, the 7th IRB headquarters, and both the Jiribam and Borobekra police stations to check current infrastructure.

Security efforts also focused on those forced from their homes. Singh visited resettlement localities for internally displaced persons in Jiribam and Borobekra. He sat down with civil society leaders from the Meitei, Hmar, Naga, Kuki, and Paite communities at the District Police Headquarters.

Singh praised the local leaders for their role in keeping the peace. During the meeting, he stated, "He appreciated their contributions towards maintaining peace and fostering cooperation among communities." The visit solidified the need for constant communication between law enforcement and local groups to keep the region stable.
