Agartala: The Union Ministry of Rural Development just signed off on 96 new road projects for Tripura. These works fall under the PMGSY-IV program for the 2026-27 financial year. The government is dumping Rs 211.71 crore into the state to fix aging rural infrastructure. New roads are coming.
These projects cover 163.872 kilometres of terrain. They will connect 96 remote habitations to all-weather roads for the first time. Officials claim the upgrade will help locals reach schools, doctors, and markets. Better roads mean faster movement of goods and people.
This push is part of a larger plan. The state has already received funding for 1,594 projects, 66 bridges, and 6,284 kilometres of road since the scheme launched. Total spending in Tripura hit Rs 4,479 crore. Officials said work on the newly approved projects is expected to begin after the completion of necessary administrative and tendering procedures.
