Guwahati: The Assam government honored Senior District Administrative Assistant James Kerketta with the District-Level Lok Sewa Award 2026. He works at the District Commissioner’s Office in Baksa. Officials handed him the award on Wednesday, August 5, inside the Mushalpur Conference Hall.
The ceremony took place during Lok Kalyan Divas. This date marks the 76th death anniversary of Bharat Ratna Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi. He served as Assam's first Chief Minister. District Commissioner Kimnei Changsan, IAS, joined Senior Superintendent of Police Ujjal Pratim Baruah to pay floral tributes to the late leader.
Attendees included Additional Deputy Commissioners, Circle Officers, Assistant Commissioners, and various department heads. They gathered to reflect on Bordoloi's legacy. The award recognizes state employees for excellence under the government's Lok Sewa and Karmashree Award 2026 initiative.
Commissioner Changsan addressed the crowd during the meeting. She spoke about the need for honest administration. Changsan said, "Lok Kalyan Divas serves as a reminder of the responsibility of public administration to ensure citizen-centric, transparent and accountable governance."
She challenged staff to work harder. Her message focused on delivering services to the last mile, fixing grievances, and helping vulnerable citizens. Staff must maintain public trust through selfless work.
