Guwahati: A teacher at Bijni Bandhab Higher Secondary School in Assam is under investigation following accusations of physical assault against a Class IX student. The student’s family filed a formal complaint at the Bijni Police Station, alleging that assistant teacher Bhargav Pathak repeatedly beat the girl with a ruler. The injuries are reportedly severe enough to leave the student struggling to walk.
Sadananda Saha, the student’s father, claims this assault follows a pattern of inappropriate behavior. He reported that Pathak previously grabbed his daughter’s hand when she was alone. When the family attempted to address these concerns with school leadership, the principal allegedly threatened to expel the student if they continued to pursue the matter.
Tensions escalated on Wednesday when the student attempted to visit the Bijni Court to file a complaint. Her family alleges that Pathak intercepted her, grabbed her arm, and behaved aggressively toward Rakesh Das, who was escorting her. Regarding the teacher's conduct, the student’s family stated, "The student is reportedly experiencing difficulty in walking due to the injuries sustained in the alleged assault."
The incident has drawn significant outcry from parents and local residents. The family is calling for a thorough police investigation and strict disciplinary action against the teacher to ensure the student's safety.
