Guwahati: The Ledo Central Namghar in Assam's Tinsukia district marked the start of its 59th foundation day on May 28. The four-day event, held in the coal town of Ledo, features the annual Holy Bhagavat Paath programme and has drawn thousands of devotees to the premises.
Tarun Gogoi, president of the management committee, opened the festivities by hoisting the religious flag. Prabhu Prem Narayan Goswami, the Dekha Satradhikar of Sri Sri Banga Satra, lit the inaugural lamp before leading the Naam Prasanga. The sacred Bhagavat was installed by Pushpa Gogoi and Loknath Konwar, followed by a formal inauguration of the reading programme by Purnananda Dehingia.
Anil Chutia and Jeevban Saikia are serving as chief reciters for the duration of the event, which runs through May 31. The celebration will conclude with a traditional Bhaona performance titled Dadheechi Muni Asthidaan and Vritrasur Badh. Local artistes will stage the production on the final night.
Organisers have invited residents from across the Margherita co-district and beyond to attend the ceremonies. Guests are welcome to join the prayers, receive blessings, and partake in holy prasad throughout the four-day gathering.
