Churachandpur Finalizes Census Training Ahead of September Launch

Imphal: Training for the final batch of census workers wrapped up on August 26 in Churachandpur. Held at the SDO office, the three-day session prepared staff for the upcoming House Listing Operation. Krishna Kumar, the Deputy Commissioner and Principal Census Officer, oversaw the entire process. He made sure every worker understood the stakes. The district ran four batches starting August 12 to drill 197 participants on digital protocols.

The group included 169 enumerators and 28 supervisors pulled from primary schools and local colleges. Field experts Lianminthang Samte, Satkhogin Kilong, and Janice T. Jingsol led the instruction. They covered legal responsibilities and the technical definitions needed for field data collection. The team emphasized that "the training programme aimed to equip enumerators and supervisors with the skills, procedures and standard guidelines required to carry out door-to-door data collection."

Workers spent time learning the HLO Mobile Application to ensure data flows to the web portal in real time. They also practiced using the DCHB Mobile App for the District Census Handbook. With these drills finished, the House Listing and Housing Census begins September 1. Officials expect to start the second phase of population counting in February 2027.
