Imphal: Authorities suspended Phase-I Census 2027 training across Imphal East, Imphal West, Kakching, and Jiribam. Growing law and order concerns triggered the cancellations. These sessions were set to start on August 20. Imphal West Deputy Commissioner Mayanglambam Rajkumar Singh issued the order on August 19. Administrators in Kakching and Jiribam followed suit, notifying the Directorate of Census Operations of their own delays.
Work continues elsewhere. A three-day training program for enumerators and supervisors began at the HSA Complex in Churachandpur. Personnel from Parbung and Pherzawl sub-divisions are currently participating. Zosanglur Joute, the ADC for Pherzawl and Charge Officer for Tipaimukh-Parbung, spoke at the opening. He urged the staff to work hard. "Urged participants to make full use of the training to ensure smooth conduct of the census exercise and to carry out the subsequent house-to-house enumeration with dedication."
Field Trainer K. Lunlenmoi Vaiphei and Field Supervisor T. Wilson Henminlun lead the instruction. They are working with local Sub-Divisional Officers. The curriculum covers house numbering and recording data on household assets. Trainees are practicing with a mobile app designed for digital data submission. Supervisors are learning to verify entries and track field progress. These developments follow widespread pressure from groups demanding an updated National Register of Citizens before the census begins.
