BTC Deputy Speaker Bijit Gwra Narzary Dies in Apparent Suicide

Guwahati: Bodoland Territorial Council Deputy Speaker Bijit Gwra Narzary died Wednesday evening at his home in Kumarikata, located in the Tamulpur district of Assam. He was found hanging. Authorities suspect suicide but the motive remains unknown.

Narzary served as the elected representative for the 26th Darrangajuli constituency. He held his seat as a Member of the Council Legislative Assembly for four straight terms. He was also a senior leader within the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Local politicians reacted quickly to the news. Hagrama Mohilary, president of the Bodoland People’s Front and chief of the BTC, spoke out on the tragedy. He called the event an irreparable loss. "I am deeply saddened by the untimely demise of Sjt. Bijit Gwra Narzary, from 26 No. Darrangajuli, Hon’ble Deputy Speaker of the Bodoland Territorial Council. His sudden passing is an irreparable loss to our community and public life," Mohilary stated.

Mohilary offered his condolences to the family and colleagues of the late leader. Officials have not provided further updates. The investigation continues.
