Kohima: Assam Rifles recently launched a series of outreach programs across Nagaland to support community welfare through healthcare, education, and disease prevention. The initiatives reached residents in remote districts and local schools, highlighting the force's commitment to public health.
In Mon district, troops conducted a medical camp for villagers from Yangkhao, Obey, Tamkoang, and Pessao. The medical team provided consultations and essential medicines to 192 residents, while also offering guidance on maintaining a healthy diet and effective preventive healthcare habits.
The force also turned its attention to youth wellness in Kohima by hosting a yoga session at Little Flower Higher Secondary School on June 1. This event served as a precursor to the upcoming 12th International Day of Yoga. Seventy girl students, alongside teachers and soldiers, participated in breathing exercises and postures designed to improve flexibility and focus.
To mark World No Tobacco Day on May 31, the Ghaspani Garrison organized an educational program for 180 troops and students from the Assam Rifles Public School in Medziphema. Speakers from the Brahma Kumaris Medical Wing and the Rajyoga Education and Research Foundation explained the severe health risks associated with tobacco use. These experts encouraged the audience to practice stress management and discipline to maintain a healthier, tobacco-free life.
