Assam Chief Minister Appoints Guardian Ministers to Oversee District Development

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has assigned 16 cabinet ministers to serve as guardians for the state's districts. This administrative move aims to improve coordination between the state government and district officials while accelerating regional development and public welfare initiatives.

Sarma announced the appointments on social media, expressing optimism about the impact of the initiative on the state. He stated, "I am pleased to announce the allocations and expressed confidence that the ministers would work closely with district administrations to further Assam's progress and prosperity."

Under the new structure, Rameswar Teli will oversee Tinsukia and Jorhat, while Atul Bora handles Kamrup (Metro) and Dhemaji. Charan Boro is assigned to Kokrajhar, Baksa, and Chirang. Ajanta Neog will manage Morigaon and Kamrup, Ashwini Ray Sarkar takes over Bongaigaon and Barpeta, and Ashok Singhal is responsible for Darrang and Dhubri.

Other assignments include Bimal Bora for Sivasagar and Charaideo, Biswajit Daimary for Nalbari and Sonitpur, and Jayanta Mallabaruah for Tamulpur and Goalpara. Kaushik Rai will manage Sribhumi and Hailakandi, Keshab Mahanta oversees South Salmara-Mankachar and North Lakhimpur, while Krishnendu Paul is assigned to Dima Hasao and Cachar.

Rounding out the list, Nilima Devi will serve Bajali and Udalguri. Pijush Hazarika is tasked with Nagaon, Hojai, Karbi Anglong, and West Karbi Anglong. Ranoj Pegu will cover Biswanath and Golaghat, and Susanta Borgohain is responsible for Majuli and Dibrugarh.
