Imphal: The Core Committee on Relief and Rehabilitation, Manipur (CCRRM) has been delivering essential aid to remote hill districts since February. The group provides food, medicine, and clean water to residents and volunteers impacted by the regional conflict that began earlier this year.
Senior functionary R. Shinglai explained the group's origins, stating, "After gathering authentic information from the ground, we mobilized whatever resources we could, including contributions from well-wishers, and launched relief missions to the most affected areas." These efforts have reached numerous settlements, including Litan, Thawai, and Sinakeithei.
Beyond distributing daily necessities, the organization has taken on infrastructure projects to support local connectivity. This includes providing machinery and fuel to repair a vital road in the Ireng Naga village. In Churachandpur district, a delegation led by Convenor Yazing Vicisy Shimray visited the Loktak Project area to support local youth groups maintaining peace in the region.
The humanitarian mission often involves cross-community cooperation, such as recent assistance from the Sekmai Meira Paibi and a former Khurai constituency MLA. While the CCRRM continues its work, teams report that the security situation remains unstable, with ongoing concerns about potential military combing operations near their relief sites.
