Guwahati: Morigaon District Commissioner Anamika Tewari has introduced a new Standard Operating Procedure to elevate academic standards and foster better learning environments across local schools. Distributed through Samagra Shiksha, the directive includes 15 key points designed to improve classroom discipline, infrastructure utilization, and student engagement.
The initiative moves beyond traditional instruction by mandating more active involvement from parents, community members, and school management committees. Schools are now required to maintain organized classrooms, utilize digital tools like smart TVs effectively, and implement a rotation seating system to provide every student with an equal opportunity to learn.
A core component of the plan is the introduction of quarterly Academic Village Meetings. These sessions aim to address high dropout rates, track attendance, and keep the public informed about government educational programs. The directive also emphasizes value-based learning, instructing schools to integrate modules that teach honesty, responsibility, and discipline.
Regarding the collective effort required for these improvements, the District Commissioner emphasized that educational development is not solely the responsibility of schools and teachers but requires the active participation of parents, local communities, School Management Committees, and other stakeholders.
To support daily academic growth, schools must now maintain regular lesson plans, monitor homework assignments, and utilize WhatsApp groups to keep parents updated on student progress. Officials hope these structured measures will lead to a lasting positive shift in the district educational landscape.
