Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh band Kongkura:yo released their new music video, Toma Dulamang, on Wednesday. The five-member group offers a modern rock-fusion take on the Adi Donyi-Polo hymn. Tapang Jamoh wrote the original piece nearly forty years ago. It carries a clear message: when the Solung call arrives, the Adi people act.
Rural Development Minister Ojing Tasing launched the project at Hotel Airport View near Pasighat Airport. Ma Ke chairperson Joya Tasung Moyong, Adi Agom Kebang President Bodong Yirang, and General Secretary Tajing Taki also attended the event. The band draws its name from the echoes of ancestors. They want to push the Adi language into the future using traditional melodies.
Joya Tasung Moyong highlighted how creative works guard the cultural heritage of the region. She also discussed her NGO, Ma Ke, which supports abuse survivors and families fighting drug addiction. Tasing praised the band for bridging the gap between modern sound and old traditions. He noted, "Such initiatives enable young people to engage with contemporary music while learning about their roots, legacy and cultural heritage."
