Adi Agom Kebang pushes for state aid to save native language

Itanagar: The Adi Agom Kebang (AAK) met with the Directorate of Indigenous Affairs at the Siang Guest House. They want government help to protect their language and heritage. Indigenous Affairs Director Likha Suraj and Assistant Director Tapun Taki led the state team. Representatives from Billion Readers and the Planet Readers-Ani Books team joined them.

AAK president Bodong Yirang and general secretary Tajing Taki presented their case. Yirang laid out the history and current projects of the group. He detailed the specific hurdles standing in their way. The team asked for better institutional backing to keep the Adi tongue alive.

Suraj promised to help. He wanted a direct look at the troubles facing local dialects. Taki thanked the director for the meeting. He stated, "Taki expressed gratitude to the Directorate for initiating the interaction and showing interest in supporting efforts to preserve the Adi language."

The session built a bridge between the AAK and the state. Both sides hope this coordination leads to long-term success. Officials plan to prioritize these heritage initiatives moving forward.
