Kohima: Lt Gen V.M. Bhuvana Krishnan touched down in Nagaland this week. The new GOC-in-C of the Indian Army Eastern Command hit the ground running. He met with Governor Nand Kishore Yadav and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio to assess border security and regional stability.

The meetings centered on tightening coordination between military units and the state government. They broke down plans for better border infrastructure and ways to assist local communities. The Governor credited the Army for its work in the state. He specifically praised the force for "safeguarding the country's frontiers" and providing vital humanitarian aid to remote villages.

Krishnan later sat down with Chief Minister Rio at his official residence. Deputy Chief Ministers TR Zeliang and Y Patton joined the talks. The group discussed the current security climate and joint development projects. Rio welcomed the new commander and wished him well in his role. Krishnan is currently touring the Northeast to inspect field formations under his direct control.
