Kohima: The Ao Kaketshir Telongjem Dimapur Government College (AKTDGC) celebrated its golden jubilee on June 13 at the IMC Hall. Held under the theme Celebrating the Power of Education, the event honored five decades of academic contribution while encouraging students to look toward the future.

Business Association of Nagas president L. Mongkhum Jamir addressed the inaugural session as the special guest. He urged the community to pay tribute to the institution’s pioneers and reflected on the necessity of ongoing personal and societal development. He noted, “The moment we stop growing mentally and physically, it marks our end.”

Addressing the state’s economic landscape, Jamir expressed concern over the heavy reliance on government employment. He argued that a sustainable economy requires a shift toward entrepreneurship, innovation, and creativity. He challenged the youth to move away from a culture of dependency and to utilize education as a primary tool for achieving self-reliance.

The program included reflections from various leadership figures, including AKTDGC president Wapangmeren Jamir and the first president of the organization, K. Tongbang Jamir. Alumnus Imkong Imchen also shared remarks during the ceremony. The event featured cultural performances, prayers, and speeches, concluding with a second session attended by Associate Professor Purtila.
