Guwahati: A fraudulent Instagram account is hunting for cash in the name of Assam Jatiya Parishad leader Kunki Chowdhury. The account, titled For Kunki Chowdhury, claims to gather donations for children hit by recent floods. It pushes a Google Pay QR code to solicit payments from the public. People are falling for it. Scammers want your money.

Reports identify Ariful Haque as the person allegedly running the account and pocketing the cash. Chowdhury says she has no link to the profile or the fundraising efforts. She is warning the public to stay away. The politician spoke out against the deception on record.

"I have come to know that a fake Instagram account has been created in my name and that money is being sought from the public in the name of helping flood-affected people. I want to make it absolutely clear that I have no connection whatsoever with this account or with any such fundraising appeal," Chowdhury stated. She labeled the misuse of her identity a major concern.

Chowdhury is urging residents to verify donation appeals before sending money. She wants local authorities to start an investigation immediately. Legal action must follow for those behind the scheme. She fears the scam hurts real flood relief efforts.
