Guwahati: Girijananda Chowdhury University launched a four-day relief mission to help flood and landslide victims in Assam and Nagaland. The drive ran from July 31 to August 3. Faculty, staff, and students from the National Service Scheme Cell managed the operation alongside the Shrimanta Shankar Academy Society.
Teams delivered food, clothing, and hygiene products to families in Sivasagar villages. They hit Hahchara Chetia Gaon, Lebang Chaul Kora Gaon, Borhoting Chapori, Betbari Nimaijan, Changmai, and Nimaijan Gorkosh. Staff also visited the Sivasagar district administration relief center to hand off supplies. They praised local officials for quick rescue work.
The mission crossed state lines into Nagaland. They reached Naginimora to help families hit by severe weather. Local groups helped distribute the gear. This included the Naginimora Students Union and the Naginimora Gorkha Union. The university team checked landslide zones and visited a relief camp at the Apex Konyak Union office in Mon.
The university credited donors and alumni for funding the effort. They stated the drive reflected its commitment to humanitarian work. According to the university, the initiative highlights how it will continue to stand with communities during times of crisis. They thanked local leaders and residents for their cooperation throughout the mission.
