Guwahati: The holy month of Bhadra kicked off August 19. Across Assam, naamghars and satras erupted with the sounds of Hari Naam. Devotees flooded the Batadrava Than, the birthplace of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva, starting in the early morning hours to observe the auspicious season.

The air at the historic shrine is heavy with tradition. Naam-kirtan rituals dominate the daily schedule. Throughout the next month, the site will host Ashtadash Prasang, with religious programming running from dawn until midnight.

The spiritual pull is strong. The premises remain packed as followers engage in prayers and Vaishnavite rituals. To those visiting the site, the birthplace of the revered saint appears as a "second Vaikunthapur." This designation highlights the intense cultural and religious weight the month carries for the state.
