Guwahati: Assam Jatiya Parishad secretary Jagadish Bhuyan slammed the state government this week. He questioned the decision to add Dima Hasao Autonomous Council Chief Executive Member Debolal Gorlosa and Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Chief Executive Member Tuliram Ronghang to the State Board for Wildlife. Officials picked both men to serve as conservationists and environmental experts.
Bhuyan released his statement on social media Wednesday. He accused the two council leaders of overseeing mass destruction of green hills in their respective districts. He claimed he visited the damaged sites himself. Furthermore, he noted that he previously submitted files regarding Gorlosa to the Justice Anima Hazarika Commission.
Bhuyan mocked the government for the selections. He called the move a farce. "Under the direct patronage of these two people, the green hills in various parts of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao are being destroyed one after another," he stated. He added that the appointments represent the "Joke of the Year" for the state.
The government recently finished shaking up the board roster. Bhuyan insisted their records disqualify them from protecting wildlife. These claims are currently unverified assertions. No proof confirms any wrongdoing by Gorlosa or Ronghang at this time.
