Guwahati: Air India Express will launch direct flights from Guwahati to the United Arab Emirates next month. The expansion marks the first non-stop access to the Gulf region for travelers in Northeast India. The Assam government confirmed the new schedule on Wednesday, July 15.

The Guwahati to Dubai route starts August 4. Flights to Abu Dhabi begin August 7. These non-stop services eliminate the need for transit stops in cities like Delhi, Kolkata, or Mumbai. The airline confirmed the move in official communications to the state government.

Promotional fares accompany the launch. Tickets for the Dubai route start at Rs 21,188. Seats for the Abu Dhabi service are available from Rs 19,759. The airline suggests booking early. This strategy aims to secure seats and snag the introductory rates.

Officials expect the routes to boost trade and tourism. The flights serve a wide group of people. Business travelers, students, and the large Indian diaspora in the UAE stand to benefit. The state government noted that these services "are expected to provide seamless travel options for tourists, business travellers, students, and the large Indian diaspora residing in the UAE." Better connectivity will likely deepen ties between the Northeast and the Gulf.
