Shillong: Union Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia heads to Shivpuri this Sunday. He plans to lay the foundation stone for a 2,500 crore Adani Group defence manufacturing plant. The project aims to turn the region into a power player for military hardware.
This facility follows the government mandate for Aatmanirbhar Bharat. It pushes local production forward. The site will create 5,000 direct and indirect jobs. Officials expect the project to pull local small businesses into the defence supply chain.
Construction should finish in three years. Commercial production starts soon after that. The new site builds on the success of the Gwalior small arms complex. That facility already delivered the first batch of Prahar light machine guns early. An official statement noted the goal is "boosting indigenous defence production."
The Gwalior plant currently supports 3,000 jobs. It links more than 25 local suppliers to its operations. Scindia pushed hard to bring this industrial investment to the Gwalior-Chambal area. Other recent wins for the region include a jacket factory in Badarwas and a 1,059 crore cement grinding plant in Guna.
