Kohima: The Zunheboto District Planning and Development Board met this week to address local resource management and infrastructure needs. Presiding over the meeting, advisor K. Tokugha Sukhalu urged government officials to focus on efficient service delivery. He observed that Nagaland maintains a high ratio of public employees relative to its population, making the need for careful resource allocation essential.
Sukhalu stressed that officials must better inform the public about state initiatives. He stated, "The need for efficient utilisation of resources to ensure maximum public benefit" remains a top priority for the district. Addressing housing shortages, he noted that the General Administration Guest House at North Point Colony is nearing completion to provide necessary temporary lodging for staff.
The board also addressed local economic concerns. NPF Zunheboto division president Khehoshe H. Yepthomi suggested building a rural marketing shed to assist farmers with the sale of their produce. Following discussions, the board approved the registration of the Taekwondo Society and recommended the upgradation of The Cedar School in Aghunato.
In a move to streamline local governance, the board decided to transfer several unassigned public properties to the Zunheboto Town Council. The local Multi Purpose Hall was handed over to the council for a one-year trial period to evaluate future management strategies.
