Guwahati: Garima Saikia Garg pulled the veil off a life-size statue of her husband, music icon Zubeen Garg, on June 23. The ceremony took place at the International Academy of Scholars in Kharija Dalaigaon, Bongaigaon. Dr. Itesh Bordoloi spearheaded the installation project, while Udalguri artist Khargeswar Boro crafted the sculpture.
The event drew a crowd of local residents, fans, and cultural figures. They honored the singer by playing his hit tracks throughout the morning. The music served as a reminder of his lasting impact on Assamese culture.
Garima Saikia Garg spoke to reporters after the reveal. She highlighted the deep connection the musician maintains with the region. She said, "Bongaigaon is Zubeen’s own place. We must keep Zubeen’s essence alive."
Beyond the statue, Garg addressed recent public reports. She spoke about the status of funds in the singer's bank account and responded to a petition filed by Shyamkanu Mahanta before the Supreme Court. The event concluded with supporters gathering to celebrate the life and ongoing career of one of Assam's biggest stars.
