Villagers Protest in Manipur Demanding Release of 14 Captives

Imphal: Residents of Taphou Kuki Village held a peaceful demonstration to demand the immediate and safe release of 14 villagers who have been held captive in the Senapati district for nearly two weeks. Participants including children, women, and the elderly wore white clothing and carried placards while gathering to offer prayers for the missing individuals.

Family members expressed deep anxiety regarding the physical condition of the captives. Hatpi Chongloi, a relative of one of the missing persons, noted that many of those held are primary breadwinners for their households. The ongoing uncertainty has placed a heavy emotional and financial strain on the affected families who remain desperate for news.

Protesters are urging the Kangpokpi and Senapati district administrations to increase their efforts to resolve the situation. They also called on the state and central governments to intervene and secure an unconditional release. The villagers stated that they plan to continue their peaceful appeals until their family members are safely returned home.
