Villager injured after armed attack in Manipur's Noney district

Imphal: An unidentified group of armed men opened fire on civilians working in agricultural fields near Joujangtek village in Manipur's Noney district on Thursday. The attack occurred around noon as local residents were performing routine farming tasks along the Imphal-Khoupum Road.

The sudden gunfire triggered widespread panic, forcing many villagers to flee the area to find safety. One man sustained gunshot wounds to his arm and chest during the incident. He was immediately transported for medical care, though his current condition remains unknown.

Authorities have not yet identified the assailants or determined the motive behind the violence. Local sources confirmed that "the identity of the assailants and the motive behind the attack remain unclear." Security forces are expected to launch an investigation, though police and district officials have yet to issue a formal statement on the matter.
