Union Minister Reviews Strategic Road Projects in Sikkim

Gangtok: Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Ajay Tamta led a high-level review meeting in Gangtok on June 5 to evaluate the progress of major infrastructure works across Sikkim. The session focused on projects managed by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited, the Border Roads Organisation, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, and the State Public Works Department.

During the meeting, officials discussed the current status of the state’s road network and outlined a roadmap for future development. Tamta underscored the necessity of these improvements to boost regional mobility and support the broader economic growth of the state. He emphasized that the central government remains dedicated to creating a more reliable transport system.

Addressing the media regarding these infrastructure goals, the minister said, "Sustained efforts are being made to improve road conditions and maintain uninterrupted connectivity between Sikkim and the national highway network."

The meeting included key figures such as Sikkim Roads and Bridges Minister N.B. Dahal, Public Works Department Secretary A.B. Subba, and NHIDCL Executive Director Ashok Kumar Saha. Participants examined strategies to accelerate project timelines and ensure the timely completion of vital road links.
