Guwahati: A local village defence party member discovered an unidentified man dead by the roadside in Betoni village on the morning of August 15. The discovery occurred within the jurisdiction of the Tingkhong Police Station in the Dibrugarh district of Assam.
The body began to smell. Locals believe the death happened overnight. The victim showed visible injury marks on his head and face, sparking fears of a brutal murder. Investigators found a syringe, a piece of reddish curtain, and a cloth tied like a rope near the scene.
Residents suggest the man was killed elsewhere and dumped on the deserted road under cover of darkness. Police recovered the remains and moved the body for a post-mortem examination. Authorities remain uncertain about the identity of the deceased or the cause of death. Officials stated, "The exact identity of the deceased and the cause of death are yet to be ascertained." The Tingkhong Police have launched an investigation into the matter.
