Aizawl: Mizoram Police have taken two individuals into custody following allegations that they uploaded and circulated sexually explicit content on public social media platforms. The investigation was initiated after authorities received reports concerning obscene videos being shared via two YouTube channels that were accessible to the general public, including minors.

Following a preliminary assessment, law enforcement officials determined that the disseminated material violated Section 294 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 67 of the Information Technology Act of 2000, which prohibit the publication and distribution of obscene content online. The Cyber Crime Police Station formally registered the case on April 26 to begin a thorough inquiry.

By utilizing technical analysis and cooperating with YouTube to track digital footprints, investigators successfully identified the alleged operators on May 14. The suspects have been identified as 29-year-old Henry Lalrinpuia from Hunthar, Aizawl, and 35-year-old Vanlalhmangaihzuala from Phuldungsei village in the Mamit district. Henry Lalrinpuia was apprehended on Friday, followed by the arrest of Vanlalhmangaihzuala on Saturday. As part of the ongoing probe, police have seized the mobile devices belonging to both suspects to aid in the gathering of further evidence.
