Agartala: Tripura has earned three prestigious National Panchayat Awards, marking a major milestone in the state’s efforts to improve rural governance, boost public participation, and empower women. The Ministry of Panchayati Raj presents these annual honors to local self-government institutions that demonstrate exceptional performance in public welfare and infrastructure development.

The Sepahijala Zilla Parishad received the Nanaji Deshmukh Sarvottam Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar, securing its place as the top-performing district panchayat in the country. Additionally, the Kanchanbari Gram Panchayat in the Unakoti district was honored as the Best Health-Friendly Panchayat. The Baikunthapur Gram Panchayat in the West Tripura district rounded out the state's success, earning recognition as the third-best Women-Friendly Panchayat.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha celebrated the news on social media, stating, "It's a matter of immense pride for our state." He noted that these awards reflect the government's commitment to building a more effective and collective grassroots administrative system.

Panchayat Minister Kishor Barman explained that the awards followed a comprehensive national assessment of governance standards and institutional efficiency. Looking ahead, the state government plans to integrate artificial intelligence into its administration to further enhance service delivery, aiming to build a more transparent and people-centric system across all local panchayats.
