Agartala: The Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council passed a resolution Friday demanding a time-bound rollout of the TIPRASA Accord. Executive Member Chandra Kumar Jamatia introduced the measure during a session that kicked off October 9, 2026. This pact, inked March 2, 2024, binds the central government, the Tripura state government, and the Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance to address tribal land, culture, and political standing.

The council wants the agreement to bolster local autonomy. It aims to shield indigenous language and heritage under constitutional mandates. Jamatia thanked local residents for staying peaceful and keeping faith in the TIPRA Motha Party. "The resolution underlined the importance of continued engagement with stakeholders, civil society organisations and community leaders to safeguard the rights and welfare of the indigenous Tiprasa community and other communities in the district council areas."

Officials seek coordinated work from all parties to hit these development goals. The resolution pushes for inclusive growth across the TTAADC region. It stresses that all stakeholders must act now to honor their legal commitments.
