Agartala: The Tripura Rural Economic Growth and Service Delivery Project just kicked off a one-day training program for Krishi Sakhis. They met at the Dewanbari CLF Conference Hall in Killa to learn the ropes of agricultural extension. The Killa Block Project Management Unit organized the event to turn local women into frontline community cadres.
Subrata Shib, the project's Agriculture Specialist, led the session. He told the attendees that these women serve as the primary link between government schemes and farmers. They will deliver farm advice, push modern technology, and teach Good Agricultural Practices to local Producer Groups. "The initiative is designed to empower women community cadres as Krishi Sakhis, enabling them to act as vital links between modern agricultural technologies, government schemes, and farmers," project officials noted.
Training centered on a six-step protocol. This includes farmer enlisting, need assessment, training, follow-up, input linkage, and documentation. The project aims to make all advisory services demand-driven and result-oriented. An Accounts Officer also joined the meeting to teach the new advisors how to handle bookkeeping and administrative payment procedures.
Staff from TRESP, AFC/TSA, and the Agriculture Department attended to show institutional support. This initiative aims to help build model villages where livelihoods and community services thrive. Officials hope these trained workers will build self-reliant tribal communities across the region.
