Tripura Students Tour Farms to Boost Vocational Skills

Agartala: Class IX students at PM SHRI South Jumerdhepa High School in Sepahijala District took a field trip to learn about the agriculture trade. This trip moved classroom theory into the dirt and sun. It gave the students hands-on time with real-world farming practices and local workplace standards.

Valeur Fabtex Pvt. Ltd. guided the visit. This firm serves as the Vocational Training Provider for the school. State coordinator Ikram Hossen led the project in partnership with the School Education Department. The effort links standard school work with the National Skill Qualification Framework to help kids build actual job skills.

Federal officials under the Samagra Shiksha and PM SHRI schemes approved this vocational push for 191 schools across Tripura during the 2025-26 term. These schools now teach seven sectors: IT, electronics, agriculture, retail, power, automotive, and telecom. Officials split the workload between 138 new sites and 53 existing programs.

Students gained more than just a break from their desks. They sharpened communication skills, learned to solve technical problems, and explored future careers. A press note stated the visit reflects the core objective of vocational education, which is "Learning by Doing." This work aims to produce confident students who are ready to enter the workforce once they graduate.
